April Updates: War on Youth, Planning for Fall

Despite somewhat inclement weather, our spring activism project, War on Youth, was a success.

A front passed through West Lafayette on the days we had scheduled the event, which led to cooler and windier weather than originally anticipated. As such, set up and operation were made somewhat more difficult. After a long effort by the more technical members of the club, we had to take down the sail-like banner, but still engaged students passing by with the provided activities.

The project energize current members, and helped us sign up some new people. With this behind us, we've already begun planning recruiting and social events for the fall semester. The chapter leadership would like to thank our members for an excellent year, and look forward to making next autumn better than ever for Purdue Young Americans for Liberty.

Notes from YALCon

I've been a little preoccupied with school and sleep (or rather, lack thereof), but at long last I've written up my notes from the YAL convention on the 5th. Lots of good insights, and far to lengthy to state in detail here. In interest of saving space, I've put in a page break. Political nerds can click the little read more button, and everyone else...why are you here, anyway?

April Updates: Kentucky State Convention, War on Youth

Purdue's delegation with Rep. Thomas Massie
We've been having a busy semester, and regret the lack of posts. We hope to ameliorate this in the near future.

This last weekend, three of our members attended the Young Americans for Liberty state convention in Lexington, Kentucky. Details can be found here, with more information in our forthcoming post regarding the event. Despite how early we had to get up, we had an excellent time, and only wish it had lasted longer. Speakers included David Boaz of the Cato Institute, Congressman Thomas Massie (R-KY), Julie Borowski of FreedomWorks, and Kentucky Agricultural Commissioner James Comer, all of whom covered a number of topics regarding the philosophy and message of liberty.

Towards that end, we will be holding a major outreach event on campus next week: War on Youth. This activism kit, prepared by the national YAL organization, is focused on educating college students about the problems unsustainable entitlement programs, the national debt, and irresponsible monetary policies pose to our generation. Be sure to come check it out!

We've also been working to get our other social media platforms posting regularly. Don't forget to like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter for the latest updates. Despite some melancholy as our president prepares to leave Purdue, we're looking to end this semester on a positive note, and are actively working to make next year even better for both our chapter and Purdue University.
